This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

I want to play the RE games but I only have a PC.

Must I show you vanilla GTA 4 vs GTA 4 + icenhancer? I don't want to embarrass you.
Does it have the lighting/distortion of the Cube/Wii version? Because I think that was a pretty important component of the atmosphere to the game, and "HD" textures isn't really enough to offset that IMHO.

Not at the moment but there has been so much talk on the official Steam forums and some users have claimed that they know how to unlock it that it will come about in the future. Worst case scenario is that a wicked ENB profile will replace it.

Currently, I am using this guy's post processing tweak. The vanilla game comes with 3 versions but the are all poor and he did a good job at making them useful.

Here is the default which is as horribly clean and contrasted as the origina PC port:

This is the preset I use from him:

His other decent one was the 2nd which was closer to the GC gamma:

ENB can't replace good in-engine effects. All it does is post processing. Colour correction isn't the problem at all, anyone can do that on their display or GPU control panel.

Must I show you comparisons of vanilla GTA 4 vs GTA 4 + icenhancer? I'd rather not embarrass you.

Well, just compared the GC and PC versions side by side. Both versions have have 2x antialiasing if you see a difference, and the PC version is using the HD textures that came with it.

The GC version (on the left) looks nicer to me. The gamma difference is definitely there.

lol the Gamecube version still has better textures. The leaves, the little pathway, the roof on the building in the back, all have more detail than the PC version. the hell?

GTA 4 PC isn't missing any in-engine effects. The comparison would be irrelevant to that point.

Start in this order,

RE 2 - PSX emulator or PC release
RE 3 - same as above
RE Remake - Dolphin emulator
RE Zero - same as above
RE Code Veronica - NullDC emulator
RE 4 HD - $20 bucks on Steam
RE Revelations - $50 on Steam
RE 5 - $20 on Steam
RE 6 - You might want to skip this but it's $40 on Steam

This is not the correct order canon wise but it's the best order to play imo.

I don't agree. Play the first game before 2 and then go in the order posted. 2 takes place after 1. Resident Evil 3 takes place about the same time as 2, but half of it is before 2, the other half is after.

I ordered it the way I did because of overall immersion. Playing Remake before RE 2 & RE 3 will make them look like **** which is not an incentive to play them in this day and age.

My order only makes you sacrifice overall video game evolution for Code Veronica but since the DC version was so ahead of it's time it's not really that bad.

Then play RE: Deadly Silence first. That way you get the plot in mostly the right order AND you can witness the evolution of the series technology-wise.

It also eliminates any reason not to play Code Veronica right after 3.

Have you emulated DS games on PC? Is that something you want TS to experience?

RE4 is having some issues right now though.

Besides the mouse problem, there are no issues.

There are quite a few issues actually.
The mercenary stage "castle" suddenly stops spawning enemies after sometime if you play at 60 fps. Krausers bow sometimes stops throwing arrows at 60 fps. The last stage of mercenaries has sudden black screens when you walk around, both at 30 and 60 fps.
The X+A QTEs sometimes don't respond well at 60 fps, enemies are much more aggressive at 60 fps, they probably didn't adjust their behaviour and just left double speed for it.

So there are some issues for sure. There's a few more but these are the most annoying ones.
