They're as good/bad for you as cigarettes/alcohol/some recreational drugs. It's actually a source of amusement to me that with all the research out there, and the cases of people going to excess and dying/creating physical problems for themselves, that the video game market still isn't regulated and taxed like any other controlled, but legal, substance.

Yeah, they're not the same at all, and OP is wrong.

Source: Alcoholic with 2 years of sobriety under my belt. My gaming "habit" doesn't give me mini-seizures if I go a day without playing.

But then what happens to all the people who have jobs because they take advantage of people with addictive personalities? Therapists, pharmaceutical salesmen, obviously anyone involved in the distribution of the goods already discussed in this topic...
