Any reason a week old thumbdrive would kick the bucket?

This is the one, it just stopped being detected by any USB port on different PCs and my PS3.

It's possible you won the defective drive lottery. It's also possible you need to reformat it. Check and see if it shows up under device manager and/or disk management in Windows

Tried that, nothing. The red light on it doesn't light up.

If you got it at walmart just take it back and get another one (unless of course you're worried about the data on the thumbdrive.).

You didn't do some heavy copying and pasting did you? I know my Kingston 3.0 is fast but it warms up like crazy. Makes me nervous when I use it. But then again, I hear flash memory is resistant to heat....

Myself and a co worker have both gone through about 5 flash drives this year. They weren't even used heavily. Newer ones are just garbage unfortunately.
