BD drive should be the standard.

Why most people still stick with a DVD drive. BD drive is twice faster & the capacity is a lot larger. Rewritable BD disk is also more functional over the old DVD drive.

Games installation is a hassle because DVD is currently the standard.

I'm so into digital that I don't remember the last time I went into a game store.

DVD drives are cheaper and some would argue ODDs are dying out anyway (at least on laptops and especially as PC gaming shifts to digital).

Digital download is the standard now. You don't even need an optical drive.

I bought a blue ray burner so I could back up some stuff, but other than that, I never use it. If dual layer DVDs weren't so expensive DVD wouldn't have been bad but last time I checked, a blank dual layer DVD cost as much as blank Blu Ray with about 1/3rd the storage, so it made no sense.

With Steam though, I will likely almost never need an optical drive.

I wish OEMs would remove ODDs completely from laptops. It's a waste of space. The same space could be used for extra battery packs. Then again, these are the same dinosaurs that keep putting 1366x768 in laptops

It doesn't sound practical. I prefer a stand alone blu-ray player. With the current state of PCs, downloading games is the ideal method. A blu-ray drive would only serve to play movies and burn discs. It's purely a luxury item.
