Is UPlay a Deal-breaker IYO?

#21Dark_SpiretPosted 3/10/2014 4:15:17 PM
in my experience its the worst system. worse than gfwl, steam and origin. i own 5 uplay games and everyone has given me issues witht eh worst one being anno 2070 which took 45minutes to setup an account with needless patches, server disconnects, lost email info and cd-key fails(which magically worked on the 8th try). Even now i still get disconnected from their servers every other time i try to play it. Blacklist is nearly broken online for me as well.

like i said its just my personal expereince.

Damn this topic is making me pretty happy that its been smooth sailing for me. Seems they maybe only support newer systems on newer os' properly and its a crapshoot if it will work on anything other than an ideal setup.

I don't have any real deal breakers. If I want it I'll suffer through UPlay. It's a horrid client though. Got Blacklist for free with my gpu. You have to patch the game outside of client otherwise client will d/l a patch each time.

This is what it's doing to me, but when I try to apply the latest patch, it says it's already fully patched. How did you get it to work?

Seriously, what a god-awful client.

Downloaded the patches and did it manually. Links are in the post there. If there's still an issue I don't know a fix =( sorry.

Uplay was a pain in the ass to set up for the first time but now I don't mind since I haven't had problems with it.

I pretty much have the exact same PC as you except I have a 4670K @ 4.4 and a TX 750--still works like a**.

Kind of. If it requires Steam in addition to uplay; then yes. I don't understand the requirement of needing both clients to play a game. The Steam release should only need Steam while the Uplay release should only need uplay. You shouldn't need both.

It's not intrusive. It starts with the launch of the game and it closes when you press the X. You log in once and can pretty much forget about it from there.
