Poll: So is "3D gaming" on PC dead?

Dead?
You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I feel it's too much of a "niche" area right now for it to ever catch on like HD did. It has less than stellar support at this point in time, isn't well liked by most due to having to wear glasses, and I think a lot of people feel it costs too much/ is too complicated to use.

If they can overcome those hurdles I think it will find it's way to the masses.

3D is amazing, but graphics cards will have to improve and so will the HDMI standards.

3D is a fad in gaming and in movies, You can't really tell in gaming because its new. But if you go back and look at 3D movies its seems to pop up every ten years going back to the 80's with the red and blue glasses.

You can spend $400 on a console and $400 on a cheap PC, or you can spend $800 to build your own and have the best of both worlds.

Don't you need 120+ fps to use 3D?

No, but I would like to be able to play 3D without cutting the resolution in half.

3D anything is dead. It was a fad resurrected by the mediocre movie AVATAR. I'm glad it's dead. I haven't seen a 3D tv on display in years now.

Yeah but it's getting harder and harder to find a projector without 3D support nowadays.

3D is ubiquitous in the home theater sector. Over 850 modern PC games are compatible with 3D too. You guys are just looking in the wrong places and not using the right software:

The Oculus Rift will be the true test one way or the other. If it sticks to a $299 or less price point and game engines built in support for it, it could be huge.
