is 90-100 dollars normal to get a tech person to install your operating system?

long story short, I built a computer a couple months ago and a couple parts had to be RMA'd back to the manufacturer, so I never actually got to install the OS.

With all those issues happening with my computer I just said screw it and took it to an IT store to get them to put it all together. 60 dollars labor fee, 170 for an SSD(Canadian, taxes included). Called them back tonight to see the total cost(as i had work and had to boot it out of there to make it to work on time) and its going to cost me another 90 for installation of windows 8.1, because of drivers being updated and the like, and extra labor costs.

He said he would see if they could cut me a deal since I'm buying an SSD from them, but even then 90 dollars prior to the discount seems a little excessive.

why don't you just install the OS yourself... it's not hard, $90 is bull****

lol, installing an os is no different than installing any other kind of software, select folder location, pick options, wait. 100 dollars is ridiculous.

If a store is charging for things like that, it's generally going to be pretty pricey so yeah.

You should really just do that yourself though.

i'm probably going to get either my buddy to do it, since he's into IT and that, or one of my neighbours.

Seriously all you have to do is go through an install menu it's not complicated.

Installing the OS is the easiest part of the whole build, do it yourself. I can't imagine asking a neighbor to help do this...that's like asking them to start your dishwasher.
