Is it worth getting a alienware laptop for gaming?

#1sakuraartsPosted 3/24/2014 5:31:36 PM
I see new models of these every year but wonder if the model from last year will be just as good as this year?

If so would it just be better to get a older alienware laptop gaming?

No. It's a bad life choice.

The newer model will always be better. Usually fairly significantly so as laptops graphics cards improve a lot year by year.

No laptop is worth getting for gaming.

Lol Alienware. I still laugh at my friend for getting an $1800 Alienware "Gaming laptop". What a waste. He redeemed himself though when he got his $2500 gaming desktop. I would never game on a laptop. Ever. So heat. Much bad.

The problem with gaming laptops is that I hear they break like after 1-2 years of use, and even if they lasted longer than that, it's not very upgradeable. Also with Alienware you're paying a lot for the name. $1100 for a laptop?

You'd be better off buying a cheap laptop for $300 or so that does what you need it to do for school or work, and putting the rest ($800 or so) into a desktop for gaming. The only reason I would even consider a gaming laptop is if there was some reason why I would never be able to own/use a desktop to play games.

At least that way you could upgrade easier and save money by building it yourself.

I had a Gateway FX that lasted for 6 years of heavy on the road use. Which is the only reason to get one, if you are out of the house for months out of the year.
