Facebook has acquired Oculus VR.

I don't think I could have heard worst news.

No more Oculus.

Its gaming focus gimmick focus will be gone and everything else they seem so excited about is nothing but a joke.

I don't even get what they see. The Oculus is terrible for communication, VR will never hit gaming widely for the kind of piece of crap you can make for mainstream... and while it will have some random, interesting use I have no idea what they're seeing in it thats so great they had to acquire the bloody thing.

On the bright side, I have hopes they can fall flat on their face over this one.

I seriously double checked the date if it wasn't April 1st.

This shocked me dead.

EA's a game publisher, Facebook is malware of the societal structure. I don't get the comparison at all

your hate is deep for Facebook. did they kill your family?

Worse. They killed the common sense of a generation or two of internet kids, eroded personal boundaries and concepts like privacy, and coopted half the planet into being little more than crops for data mining.

Wow, the best description of it that I've ever heard.

So how long before FB takes over the world and those who haven't fallen into their trap so far are forced to use their products?

*Trying to look on the bright side* Oh hey, at least there's still morpheus, that at least still counts for something.

Considering that Sony is unwilling to share the API for Morpheus, I'm not sure there's a ton of hope there beyond PS4-only support.

Like every day, this day began with a nice warm cup of coffee. I sat down, played video games, listened to some music. Then at roughly noon, I headed down to my local religious establishment. My basement shrine to Satan, whom I ask daily to kill Mark Zuckerberg. His response is always the same, suicide is a sin.

The room that the contract signing took place in must have been huge since it's apparent every single one of you was there and know all the exact details of it.

Wow. I'm super glad so many people here are pissed about this. Facebook is being used by the NSA and MANY other similar organizations to spy on EVERYBODY. Not a big deal? I'm gonna show you something, and I don't think you're gonna like it: http://www.illuminati-news.com/articles2/00305.html

let's be honest... nobody in here would say no to $2b.

too bad that means the VR and every type of potential it had is now royally f'd.

But it's not $2 billion. It's $400 million in cash and and 23.1 million shares of Facebook stock.

"Sign in to Facebook to play your games on the Zuckerberg Rift!"

f*** you... I don't have a facebook.

Ok, well that really does kill all interest in the Oculus Rift for me too. I don't use Facebook, I don't trust Facebook, I do everything in my power to actively block Facebook, and I can't imagine they're going to quietly let me play my games without trying to either shove ads in my face or send my personal data down the digital river to whomever will pay the most for it.

But I'm praying it's an early April Fool's Joke.
