Hypothetical or not, this is stupid.

Valve is privately owned, and it's not for sale. Gabe has said already that he's not going to sell it off and would rather see it self-destruct.

Despite the billion dollar offer, Newell said Valve would prefer to "disintegrate" than ever sell out.

Its way more likely we would head in that direction than say, Lets find some giant company that wants to cash us out and wait two or three years to have our employment agreements terminate," he said.

Meh, that's what CJayC said, too. I think there IS a number for Gabe, but he's still into it and so the number's probably not there yet for most companies to buy out Valve. Maybe some day.

I would unfortunately have to stop playing my Steam Games. I hate FB with a passion, and any sort of forced-integration with FB on anything instantly turns me away.

Gaben is already a billionaire. He has no reason to sell Valve.

if they left it alone and allowed them to keep making truckloads of money? I'd keep using it.

if they tried to force facebook integration and started changing things left and right? Nah, I'm out.

Yup, if facebook got steam/valve, they would no doubt force facebook crap on everyone, and even signin using facebook. Hell no.
#18AlexKidd5000Posted 3/25/2014 3:44:44 PM
And they would probably put more emphasis on facebook games like farmville then actual good games.

Valve won't sell itself out to facebook, they make more then enough money that they release free to play games with only cosmetic items.

And free to watch movies, about their free to play games.

Valve is a private company.Gabe is not going to sell Valve to Facebook so don't worry.

This is not how this works. This is a hypothetical. Not a question on whether it will happen or not.

You can't play what if games with a impossibility though.
