How long do Gaming Laptops usually last?

#11WygunPosted 3/27/2014 8:58:50 AM
My compaq from 1999 (pentium 166mhz, 64mb ram, 2gb hd) lasted until 2007. Dont know whats wrong with it , but with these specs i really didnt care much.

My toshiba satellite coreduo2 from 2007 by the other hand only lasted to 2010. Weird, as it was a 900$ model i JUST finished paying for when it became garbage. Wasnt a cheap model either, and in fact still ran games at med settings when it stopped working. Whats more, its hd still works to this day (slave on my dads coreduo desktop).

Now im using a samsung netbook. 8 months and its working.

My Asus G74sx is still going strong after 2 years of heavy use.

Gets hot as **** though during heavy gaming.

To last implies that they actually exist. They don't, therefore "gaming laptops"(which isn't a thing, btw) cannot "last"

For gaming, about two years. For everything else, about 5.

I've got a Lenovo Y580 also, awesome laptop! Haven't really had any problems besides the cam didn't work for a long time but I found a solution. I've overclocked the graphics card a few times, also no problems so far. I've had it since around October 2012.

Mind if I ask why such the gaming laptop hate? BTW, yes they do exist...but I must assume judging by your level of hatred that one must have killed your favorite puppy or something at child hood and as such you are on some odd crusade to see them all burned at the stake or some such.

Maybe somebody will bite... someday...

Anyways I have an Asus G51vx. Core 2 Duo and Geforce GTX260M. Got it in the summer of '09. It's worked flawlessly, but it finally showed its age this year and I got a desktop.
