So is the GTX Titan X the supposed 790 or is that still a go?

Because at 3K they have lost their minds...

I think you mean Titan Z, right? And considering the Titan Z is a dual GPU, it's looking a lot like the supposed 790.

I don't know for sure, but it's probably NVIDIA's cool name for the 790. And an excuse to charge 3k.

is haha

Yeah my bad you are right. It is Z. That stinks I was hoping the 790 would be still coming.

I honestly think nVidia was thinking by now, "f*** it, these people will pay anything. Let's see how high we can really go."

Titan Z, like the original Titan, is a workstation card moreso than a dedicated gaming card. This is for graphic-intensive software that would usually require a Quadro, and those are competitive with the Titan Z's price. I believe the 790 is still forthcoming

Considering it's still cheaper than comparable workstation cards, and more widely available?
Titan and Titan Z are not targeted at gamers. Marketed to to some extent, but they're made for enthusiasts, students, or other people who want/need workstation class cards for private use.

Is it?
Either way, though, that would only run ~2200 or so going off Newegg. Titan Z is a 50% markup on that.
I get why; form factor is the big deal here. You can stick 3 or 4 of these things in a machine, and for scientific computing or such, that's a great idea. It's just rather pointless to only get one of them.
