Are all 750ti's created equal?

I'm pretty illiterate as far as computers go. I know enough after watching 40 hours of gophers videos to mod Skyrim.

Your current video card isnt meant for gaming. You really want to upgrade to at least a gtx 650ti or a gtx 750 at this time. Those will be your cheapest upgrades and probably the only thing I would recommend until learning more about your power supply.

Anyways, a gtx 750 is good, a gtx750 ti or superclocked will be better.

Your GPU could be the bottleneck, but Skyrim is pretty CPU intensive so its likely that even with a new GPU you won't see a major difference.

A FX-6100 + 560ti(less power than a 750ti) can manage Skyrim on ultra settings at 1080p60fps.

Upgrading his GPU would get him a major difference.

Some GPUs are just better than other identical GPUs. Some overclock better, some run cooler and so on. You can be sure they'll at least reach the speeds stated on the box though.
