Do you feel Greenlight/Early Access make it harder to locate worthwhile games?

I say this as a huge fan of indie games, so I'm not bustin on em as a whole. To me, Greenlight and Early Access have cluttered the whole landscape of Steam and made it difficult to find the good ones. Now, the term "hidden gem" makes a lot of sense because they really ARE hidden.

No, I have so many games being shoved down my throat (some I'm interested in, some that I'm not) that I don't have to actively go and find anything new to play.

*To further clarify this, there's a ton of good games out there that anyone who isn't under a rock will hear about. I don't ever really go on Steam anymore and browse games. If I hear about a game through word of mouth, I'll search for it and either buy it or put an alert for it on a deal website and wait.

Kinda. But usually games you're talking about get some word-of-mouth treatment and eventually find their way into your Steam account, or whatever.

Early Access just bugs me because it seems none of the games ever get out of being an alpha. Or excuse me, a "beta." When in fact a beta is a completely playable game with all features and content implement, it just has bugs that need to be worked out.

Well since Steam has categories that you can separate games into, no not really.

Not really. I don't hear about worthwhile games from steam's store page. If it's really good, I've heard about it from 50 different other sources and reviews. From there it's easy to find it, and if it's not immediately visible on the front page, I can type the name in the search box.

I don't have a problem with Early access in the slightest. I can easily see it's early access before buying it so I can avoid it if it bothers me.

They're phasing out greenlight and going to a more open game submission process so that anything and everything can be put on steam, so if you're upset now, just think how pissed off you're going to be when all the shovelware gets loaded into steam's database?

Oh look there's one now!

I actually only heard about this game being on steam because People were talking about what a steaming heap of s*** it was, and how old it was, etc.
