WARBAND - How to get recognition as King?

#1NingishzidaPosted 4/3/2014 11:22:46 PM
I have 1100 Renown, 30 Honor and 60 Right to Rule, but when I send an emissary to greet the other Kings and wish them well, as one monarch to another, none of them will refer to me as a monarch, in kind.

This is getting a little annoying, because I can win every battle and yet I can't get respect from leaders of other factions.

I was a vassal of Rhodoks and I asked them to release me from my oath BEFORE I attacked a faction to start my Kingdom, so I can't see that being the problem.

And yes, I read the wikis out of desperation, under "Right to Rule", they don't cover this. Or rather, everything they say to do I've done.

What am I doing wrong?

Don't tell me you have to suck up to other Kings to get respect...

They generally won't do it unless their faction is almost wiped out and/or you're helping them against another faction. The reward is only more right to rule. You can max it pretty easily, so getting recognition isn't necessary.

So I've continued to google my ass off, this problem doesn't seem all that common. I read a topic where this guy said to get monarchical recognition you must have a positive influence with the King in question, and hold no lands which were once His.

This to me is stupid, because to get +influence you have to do things for the King (I'm not gonna be a hitman for another King, or collect His taxes, just to make him like me, that's His dirty work and BENEATH me) and it can be difficult as the game wears on, to know if the land you hold was His, because you took it from your chosen enemy faction who may have taken it from Him beforehand.

Of course, there's a way to find out if the land you hold was once a King's who you want respect from, all you have to do is recruit in the area and see what native the units are, but then how can you make amends (there is no provision to "gift" a province back), and why should you have to, when you didn't take it from Him in the first place?

I realise it isn't necessary, but its a game mechanic I'm interested in and I want to be respected. I accepted a truce from the Nords who are all but wiped out (by me), but now both the Rhodoks and Vaegirs have declared war on me, and it seems its out of lack of respect like I'm a renegade upstart with no right to be a King, and so they don't make declarations, they just rudely attack.

Those two factions aren't working together, its about land that used to be theirs, who the Nords took and which I took from the Nords, so its just revenge on their land.

But the Sarranids I've had no negative contact with, don't hold their ex-lands, have a minimal but positive rep with the Sultan, and yet even he won't address me as King.

Its BS

I'm not sure how much right to rule has a bearing on wars. It's mostly related to recruitment.

Most wars are started by you owning a faction's original lands (the ones they started the game with) or some offense (from an event or by recruiting one of their lords). They'll also declare war if your faction is becoming too powerful. I haven't noticed an effect from right to rule or relations.

Asking for recognition is like asking for surrender in one of those old KOEI games; it's almost impossible.

Ok, I'll stop chasing the respect thing, other posts on other forums seems to back up what you say, that its very hard to get recognised.

The Vaegirs DID warn me that in 30 days, unless I become their vassal, they will declare war to take back their lands, so that's pretty cool.

The Rhodoks were rude, though, and they're powerful because I helped them take Swadia, but I'm in the negatives with them since asking to be released from an oath. so that's probably why.

I might try a few more times to see if I can get the Nords to recognise me, since they're about to become extinct.

Other than that, I don't foresee any problems in taking the other factions, so its sort of getting repetitive.

Prob time for mods.

Cuz this is my third game, and my other two games only got so far, and in both those I abused Swadian Knights and other cavalry, just like every other newb, so this time I want to be more of a Nord Huscarl/Rhodok sharpshooter based faction, which are more siege related, which works together with my engineering specialist character.

I hope that's cool with you, I'm sure you realise the game can be played in more ways than just "CHARGE!"

I hope you realize the game has a million mods, many of which rebalance the game.

But yeah, you're so hardcore.
