i3 4130 or FX-6300 for gaming?

#1LMTTNPosted 4/8/2014 5:00:20 PM
They're about the same price and there aren't any gaming performance comparisons that I've seen. Does anyone have either of these? If so, how is the gaming performance, mainly for strategy games?

Depends on what you play. In general, I'd say the FX-6300, but there are a good number of cases with there i3 would be better.

Superior single and dual core performance. It also opens the path to an i5 or i7 upgrade later.

Agreed.

Also, the i3-4330 has been on sale for $125 often enough lately I'd get that. It's currently back up to $140 but if you're not buying immediately and can wait for a sale, I've seen it for that price once a month on Amazon/Newegg and it goes for a few days.

EDIT: Correction, it's CURRENTLY that price but is out of stock (ships 1-3 weeks).

my bad, didn't see strategy. Then yes, those are generally more CPU dependent.
