I swear, if you spend 3k on a GPU, I will track you down and slap you.

dx12 is coming, rendering all of our cards obsolete. The day you buy a Titan Z is the day before that announcement comes... DONT DO IT!!!

Negative, cards with Fermi architecture and above will support dx12.

But anyway, buying a video card over $800 is just stupid. Yeah, they're fast, but most games won't need anywhere close to that speed and in a year, cards with newer features will be out, so you'll be stuck with a really fast card that can't enable all the cool graphics settings the newer cards can anyway. You might as well get a nice gaming quality card and save your money for an upgrade later.

The R9 295X2 is already faster than it.

But dat sexy cooler on the Titan Z... I have nothing against AMD but their coolers are nowhere near as good-looking.

Stock coolers maybe but wait until one of the other companies such as gigabyte and sapphire make their own with custom coolers.

What's so great about dx 12?

If you're going to drop big buck on a high-end videocard just before DX12 is announced... well, might as well wait and buy a card that also has DX12 support.

DX12 will work with all nVidia DX11 class GPUs.
I'd assume it will also work with all GCN GPUs, unless AMD decided to drop GCN architecture, or is just shafting their customers for long-term support.(again)

I'll never SLI/Crossfire

Even passing off how stupid that is, the R9 295X2 wouldn't really be worth much if you Crossfire it unless you're going for 5120x1440. A single 295X2 should do just fine.

It really depends. I think if you do a lot of GPU processing work (CUDA programming, or using software that takes advantage of CUDA) it could be pretty useful. Hopefully, more and more programs will start to utilize the full power of our GPUs; it's pretty amazing what they can do.
