chrome://plugins/

disable the built in chrome flash player (pepper flash)
go to adobe's site download the actual plugin.

Either use this:

or get Youtube Center and mess with the settings until it works. Youtube Center works really good with flash, so ignore anyone that says its too outdated.

You guys are right. It is a problem with Chrome, I just used firefox and the youtube videos stream very smoothly with 30-40% CPU usage compare to 100% on Chrome, a much better result.

Interesting, I switched from Firefox to Chrome because I was having issues with Flash for video conferencing software ( not youtube ). I am running Youtube on Chrome right now and had no issues with either Flash or HTML5. My work computer has an older i5 with integrated graphics, so it is not a beast.

Chrome self-updates flash and it conflicts with Adobe's installation.
