Probably a weird question but...anyway to output a GTX 770 to an S-video CRT TV?

Using emulators with your own games is not illegal! ^^^^^

No actually that won't work. You actually need to a converter box like the one TC posted. A simple adapter cable will not work.

That's what I figured, welp the moderators are being asses by moderating me even talking about emulators, claiming it's illegal to use system bios, even ones you ripped from your own console (false)

So i'm bowing out of this topic ~flips off clueless moderator~

kind of it is illegal only because the methods to rip the bios are illegal even thiough we are technically allowed to make backups there are no legal methods to do so. :(

I would love to see the proof that this is illegal. I would also like to see proof that anyone in the US has ever gotten in trouble for doing so. The only people who seem to care about this is gamefaqs.

It's hilarious they are moderating me when I haven't pirated a game in my life, and I actually own 3 different PS2 systems.

I would love to see the proof that this is illegal.

Ripped copies of games/BIOS are only legal if made for archival purposes. Any copy that is being actively used/played in an emulator is not an archival copy but an active copy.

Here's the proof, straight from the source:

http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-digital.html
Can I backup my computer software?
Yes, under certain conditions as provided by section 117 of the Copyright Act. Although the precise term used under section 117 is “archival” copy, not “backup” copy, these terms today are used interchangeably. This privilege extends only to computer programs and not to other types of works.

Under section 117, you or someone you authorize may make a copy of an original computer program if:

• the new copy is being made for archival (i.e., backup) purposes only;
• you are the legal owner of the copy; and
• any copy made for archival purposes is either destroyed, or transferred with the original copy, once the original copy is sold, given away, or otherwise transferred.

You are not permitted under section 117 to make a backup copy of other material on a computer's hard drive, such as other copyrighted works that have been downloaded (e.g., music, films).

It is also important to check the terms of sale or license agreement of the original copy of software in case any special conditions have been put in place by the copyright owner that might affect your ability or right under section 117 to make a backup copy. There is no other provision in the Copyright Act that specifically authorizes the making of backup copies of works other than computer programs even if those works are distributed as digital copies.

And where did I ask for an illegal copy of the bios in this topic? Nowhere.

No one said you did. Your issue was that you were discussing using PCSX2 which requires a copyrighted BIOS, which (as shown above) is illegal since the only legal copies of such ripped software is for archival purposes.

wheepitup posted...
Also that info you posted doesn't go into any sort of detail about how this archived copy can be used.

Do you not understand what "archival" means?

wheepitup posted...
This doesn't even matter anyways since you modded me for illegal activities, even though i didn't ask, nor provide any links to illegal material, I just mentioned that the emulator I was using exists.

1. I don't know why you're assuming I deleted it, because I didn't. I happened across your message in the queue and thought I'd check out the topic.
2. Again, the emulator you mentioned is not usable without an illegal copy of copyrighted software and as such is not allowed to be discussed.

So go ahead and mod me again you jackass, this site is a joke, i think i'm switching over to NEOGAF from now on.

Making a copy of the ps2 bios is not illegal, again you have no clue what you are talking about. Again, nothing illegal was mentioned.
