How do you pronounce 16:9, 1920x1080, 1280x720, 780Ti, 2500k ect. ?

Sixteen to nine
Nineteen twenty by ten eighty
Twelve eighty by seven twenty
Seven eighty tee eye
Twenty-five hundred k

etc

Saying nothing or "by" when you're giving a ratio seems weird :|

So if something has a 16:9 resolution, you say 16 to 9 resolution?

There's no such thing as a 16:9 resolution though... the colon dictates that it's a ratio, not a resolution. 16x9 would be a resolution, and said as "sixteen by nine", but saying a ratio like that doesn't make sense because ratios do not = dimensions, so saying "sixteen by nine ratio" doesn't make sense... it's a "sixteen to nine ratio"...

16:9 isn't a resolution, though. It's a ratio. It'd be a 16x9 resolution.

1920x1080 should be "by" and there's really no arguing that IMO. For ratios, it should be "to" but I think omitting anything is fine. Using "by" makes it sound like dimensions though. I mean otherwise you might as well be able to say "1920 to 1080" too or something.

I think that despite it being a ratio, in the film and video industry, you hear "by" a lot.

This. A very good friend of mine in the movie industry says that he uses "16 to 9" in the kitchen when baking, and "16 by 9" at work to describe the dimensions of the canvas he's working with. "It's a rectangle, it's 16 by 9" he says. :-)

But it's a ratio of dimensions in this circumstance. I'd say either is acceptable, though I have never in my life heard anyone say 'sixteen to nine' when talking about aspect ratios.

Am I the only one who sees 16:9 as a ratio of "16 to 9?" I've never said "16 by 9." Always "16 to 9."

This. I never say it by.

It's probably the correct way, considering people say 1 to 1 instead of 1 by 1. But I dunno, I just kinda got used to using by when referring to aspect ratios.
