New to PC gaming - what must-haves should I play?

#1jestsman5ianPosted 4/16/2014 9:44:18 AM
Hi guys, just bought my first gaming pc and want to know what great games I've missed.

Here is a list of PC games I plan on getting:

Minecraft
Civilization 4
Civilization 5
Team Fortress 2

Here is a list of some of my favorite console games:

Fire Emblem
Shin Megami Tensei (main series, Persona & Devil Survivor)
The Last of Us
Metal Gear Solid series
Dragon Quest series
Mario Golf (Game Boy Color edition)
Halo Combat Evolved (not a big fan of the sequels)
Super Smash Bros. series
Metroid Prime
Borderlands series

What PC exclusives should I look into?

Quite a few RPGs on there. To be honest, not many JRPGs exclusive to PC.
Steam has some at a affordable price: Cthulhu saves the world is a good one, Magicka is fun.
Look into the Dawn of War series, (2 plays much different than 1)

If you plan to play many shooters on PC. I'd recommend you try Quake or Unreal tournament to get use to using the Mouse and Keyboard. (Play against bots!)

He can play virtually all console games, up to 6th generation on his PC. There's a ton of JRPGs for PS1, not to mention all of the 16-bit games with fan translations.

Some other classics -
Alien Vs Predator 2, Counter Strike Source (Gun game Mode is FUN!), Starcraft , Command And Conquer 3, Diablo 1/2, Dragon Age origins (plays completely different on PC than on console), the original deus ex, Warcraft 2/3, Total War Shogun 2, Half Life 1 (blue shift and opposing forces!)

Some new games -
FTL - Faster than Light,

Dota Style games ... the users on there can be VERY unforgiving to new players getting them killed, but if you find a fun/easy going group it can be much fun!
