I had a 980BE last me just about three years without a hiccup in performance. Was a great piece of hardware. That thing was an overclocking machine on air.

why not go with an i3 and 760 for now so when later down the line instead of having to upgrade everything, all you need to do is upgrade the cpu. you can use the savings now to get an ssd or something.

Phenom II was also the last good processor lineup AMD made. They're obsolete now, but considering they were better than Bulldozer, AMD has spent years catching up to themselves and they're undeniably way behind the curve these days.

They're just relying on moar cores and moar gigahurtz to make up for what is really a meh lineup of CPUs.
