A once great company, they haven't made a good game since the Activision merger.

Yeah, what's happened to them is similar to what's happened to Squaresoft. After they merged with Activision, they seem to have went downhill a bit (though nowhere near as much as SE). Still, WoW and D3 are okay, and SC2 and Hearthstone are great. Heroes of the Storm is looking like it will be fun for a while, but wouldn't last as long as the others.

were great and then turned towards mass appeal at the sacrifice of quality or depth(moba which is apparently more streamlined than LoL, console diablo, f2p etc.)

Old Blizzard was spectacular. Top of the line. Everything they touched was gold, everything they did was amazing.

New Blizzard? Ehhh...

They're still kind of unproven. They haven't really done anything amazing since WoW, IMO.
Diablo 3? So much stuff wrong with that game (though supposedly it's mostly been fixed now, just took an expansion and a huge revamp to do it).
Hearthstone? It's pretty okay, but ultimately, it's a kind of throw-away CCG. Yay? Will people still be playing this game in 10 years, like they do with past Blizzard games? I kind of doubt it, unless it receives ridiculous support.

Starcraft 2? Really good if you're into hugely competitive, 1v1 games... though their attempts at e-sports have been lackluster; Riot puts them to shame. And the game's balance is pretty screwed up. However, if you're not into hugely competitive, 1v1 games? It's pretty lackluster. The entire game was designed around competitive multiplayer, and suffers for it when it comes to fun-factor. The entire game was a step backwards from Warcraft 3, rather than being the step forwards I've come to expect (as it was with WC1 -> WC2 -> SC1 -> WC3).

I, really, really want to just see Blizzard put out a Warcraft 4 or something. And I want it to be spectacular. I want Blizzard to show they've still got it. Because right now, I'm really not seeing it.

If we're talking campaign, then I have to say, to be fair, it would be really hard to top WC3. The campaign in that game was ****ing amazing. And for what it's worth, I loved the crap out of the SC2 campaign.

My friend that lost his job with Irrational just got hired by Blizzard, so I like them. Personal bias!

Console Diablo is not a new thing-- so far, Diablo II is the only entry in the series to not get a console port. There was also a Playstation port of Warcraft 2. Blizzard was originally a console developer-- one of their more famous console games was The Lost Vikings.

I really like Blizzard's long, long-term support to their games, their communication, and their willingness to listen to their players, even if they aren't perfect. Their games are generally pretty good, even if they're not quite as amazing and trail-blazing as they used to be a decade ago. They still keep up Diablo 2 servers-- most devs would have dropped support for them when D3 was released, if not sooner. Diablo 3 was, admittedly, a bit of a mess at release, but they listened to feedback and worked on fixing it up instead of just moving on to the next big thing. They reinvent WoW every other year, and while their experiments sometimes fail, it's good that they're willing to keep trying to improve things, and just as willing to admit when their experiments haven't worked.

the problem with console diablo this time around is that you could smell it coming from a mile away even though they kept reassuring people that it was a "PC" game all-around... they pretty much treated PC gamers like children and kept saying how all their changes and experiments were all for the better in order to get the best experience.

i'm still astonished at how different(and worse) the finished product turned out after this amazing preview.... it's really like i'm looking at a D3 clone instead of the actual D3 game.
