The game is definitely not the most eye enticing, but damn if it isn't fun as hell.

Eh... that's a stretch.

Especially when you look at something like GMan's face.

It's the same engine, the graphics look roughly the same.

A little worse, but yes.

The game came out slightly before HL2. It's not gonna have the updated graphics of the Episodes. CLEARLY.

Honestly the only problem I had with the graphics was that the texture resolutions were very low.
Poly count was just fine, and animations were passable.

Well I'm not sure what you mean, but if the distant textures are low, you can put on anisotropic filtering and I think AA with the nvidia control panel. It looks really sweet.

Who gives a crap anyway? The whole adventure is glorious.

There are screenshots online that pretty much show you exactly what it looks like. As others have pointed out, it's no Crysis or STALKER, but it doesn't look terrible... and the game really shines in its gameplay and stuff.

Some 1080p or 1920x1200 shots...

Land and build textures weren't bad, but textures on your character and NPCs were awful
This picture really shows off the problem

The ground, buildings, etc. look good, but look at yourself or the NPC on the left. It looks like a dithered texture from a PS1 game.

Here's a 1440x1080 shot showing closer up view of a character... please note that some people *might* consider this shot to contain plot spoilers.

Here's another closer view of a couple characters you meet pretty early on in the game, and shows about the detail level you can expect in the game in general.

I will agree on some of the NPCs. Some of them are even more low-res than the others. It can get nasty. Still, I think the game looks good. I like the facial animations.

If only the whole experience didn't feel a little cheap because of the thousands of bugs. (even with the unofficial patch)
