This is mostly a poll for US residents, but feel free to vote if you think the internet is ruined in your nation as well.
I'm thinking the internet will be ruined soon, maybe next year. We've already had google messing up youtube, and monopolistic internet service providers. Soon we'll have bandwidth caps and huge corporations influencing what we use the internet for (to a greater degree).

I'm so done.

The internet was ruined right around the time we transitioned from USENET to the World Wide Web

Considering how rude people are on the internet, and the floods of moronic videos and articles that get posted, it's pretty bad as is.

I mean, all I really need to say is Justin Bieber.

the sky is falling; the internet is doomed; EVERYONE WHO HAS VISITED GAMEFAQS WILL ONE DAY DIE.

I hope the FCC is dissolved.

Along with every corrupt monopoly in the US. Would be awesome if our government wasn't run by corporations.

I don't think the dissolution of the FCC is going to fix things, unless you think anarchy is the solution to all the world's government problems. In general, I think things are getting worse because they're removing or reducing the old rules that kept things in check.

Now most of our media is in the hands of only a select few mega-corporations, Big businesses are buying up smaller businesses and in general our ability to choose is being reduced.

Also since Corporations are people apparently, you can bet they're going to buy the very best politicians to make sure everything continues to go their way. I'd love to believe the internet will go on forever but I'm sure someone will find a way to ruin it eventually.

On top of that, Comcast is trying to take over Time Warner too... Sigh.

I wasn't going to post any more in this thread, but quoted text is just so ignorant it needs to be addressed.

please try to understand the difference between anarchy and the dissolution of a federal government agency. please.

I'm on Time warner, and I really REALLY hope that that merger doesn't go through. I remember when AT&T tried to buy up T-Mobile and that would have been just as bad but thankfully they put a stop to it. They may actually allow this merger since Comcast isn't in direct competition with Time Warner.

Also it doesn't seem like as many people are upset (or not upset enough)

At least Netflix will help argue against it.

I think we need to cherish what we have now because this is the golden age of the internet. There's so much BS that's been brought into congressional hearings like SOPA which aimed to nuke any website that they didn't agree with, something that would dick over the internet for the entire world. You keep having all these extremist anti-piracy acts springing up like weeds and the major goal is to gut the internet so the big corporations can feel secure and everyone else can f*** right off. Net neutrality seems like it's becoming closer to something left for the history books.
