This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

Windows 8.1 update will give it the proper start menu.

I can't wait for this. I much prefer having a WIndows Start menu than installing a 3rd party one.

I prefer the Start Screen. It's nice to be able to see more shortcuts without having to go into submenus.

I can't even update my sister's laptop to 8.1. It keeps me an error everytime I try.

Someone already created this for Win 7 and 8.
I can't remember the name right now though, it was on techrepublic that the guy advertised.

I hope he gets paid for this now that microsoft is copying him

It was pretty much the worst design decision ever.

Next I hope they give us a way to control programmatically which tiles show on the start menu. Until they do we will never roll out windows 8

Set your wallpaper as your Start Screen background and it doesn't feel so much like a distinct UI anymore.
