edit: apparently something's wrong with the image so new link: http://baconcape.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/how-to-save-money-by-switching-to-PC-gaming1.png --- PC hardware doesn't need to match console hardware in price when PC gamers save literal thousands from the software they buy. http://i.imgur.com/E5CYOem.png
But Windows is? Because that's adding about $100 to the price right there, which is significant.
I'm not saying it's impossible to build one for the price you're asking (assuming you're serious,) but you're going to have to find some solid deals. I mean the CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD/Power Supply is going to be over $500 on its own, and you've still got to get a case to put it all in, a motherboard, a DVD drive, and Windows. This is of course assuming you buy everything new.
If you live in a relatively large area, search Craigslist. Great deals can be had on there. If not, like I said you're definitely pushing the high end of your budget. --- i5-3570k @ 4.2ghz | 16GB DDR3 | Nvidia 670 2GB SLI | 1TB HD x2
