Star Wars EU including games non-cannon.

This only relates to the movies. With the next 3 episodes, they need all the freedom to write about original material so they decided that the expanded universe won't be canon to the movies. The expanded universe will still be published and reprinted, but it won't impact the plots of the movies. This doesn't mean Star Wars was rebooted.

I'll consider any EU that doesn't directly conflict with the movies to be canon. So KotOR happened, but when the new trilogy comes out that'll wipe out most of the books that took place after Jedi.

So what this REALLY means between the tiny set of movies versus the massive expanded universe that's kept Star Wars alive for the last 30 years, is that the movies aren't canon to the expanded universe.

That is a very good point. The EU has more lore than any of the movies. The movies have thinly veiled references to past events without actually explaining any of the mythos.

The movies are just kind of bland without the back story. Hell Darth Maul is a dumb character that is a good fighter. Then you read the journal and he actually becomes a character.

Vader and Sidious were extremely weak in the movies and move very slow for top level sith. When you look at EU though you have Vader blasting giant electric balls of death and Sidious using a body switch ability to survive past the 6th movie.

I would actually like to agree with this.

**** Lucas Arts. It was the extended universe that kept the franchise alive for more than a decade after "Jedi". People forget how much Star Wars had faded into relative obscurity over the course of the '80s and early '90s.

This is why copyright law needs to be shortened to 14 years, the longer copyright is it allows "content creators" like Lucas and Disney to dismiss the works of others. Lucas a well known copyright abuser spent years on idol from Jedi to the Phantom Menace while others picked up the slack for him.

Star Wars is his creation, the rights for Star Wars should not be up for grabs at any point during his lifetime, the current rules are fair.

And he has ruined his own creation. I bet if copyright was shortened to it's original term which was 14 years, there would be an incentive for Lucas to finish the work of Stars Wars instead of being idle for so long and allowing others to pick up the slack for him.

Now we got this mess if what Disney should do with all this work from the EU universe, and than for Disney to dismiss the work as non-canon is insulting to the people who contributed to Star Wars.

Lucas had plenty of time to move the series forward before selling his franchise to Disney, but others had to do it instead.

No thanks. I don't need some company to tell me what I should consider canon or not.

I am willing to bet that a lot of EU will be out of print very soon... It will just have never existed. Reminds me a bit of how the Bible got made.
