Is it just me, or are DoF and Motion Blur a waste of resource?

I use both unless they are too strong in comparison to rest of the game.

Motion Blur ruins Kane and Lynch 2 SO badly.

It was a terrible game either way.

I really don't like when they over exaggerate motion blur. I either disable it or lower it down to it's lowest settings.
It's as bad as Bloom effects. Hate them.

I turn them off specially DoF.

It's true that DoF adds immersion to the game, and honestly it looks great. The downside is DoF only applies on objects under your crosshair. And when youre playing a game, you don't only look at the crosshair right?

I remember back when I was eleven, I thought ridiculous amounts of bloom, depth of field, and motion blur looked beautiful and that they were the future of gaming graphics. I used to turn them way up in Garry's Mod back when I played it in 2007. Now, I think they look cool, but they aren't necessary.

Motion Blur goes off, but I like DoF in some games. Highly dependent on how it's utilized

One of the first things to do in a game is turn both off. Sadly!

DoF can look pretty, makes for some great screenshots, and I often use it in Skyrim. Would I use it in an arena shooter? Hell No!.

Motion blur is just all-around bad and needs to die in a fire.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. I'll keep DoF on initially for most games that have settings for it. If I find it's not to my liking I turn it off.

Motion blur gets turned off always. I've never liked it in any game.
