Wider instructions don't necessarily mean faster performance. Slower depending on what you're doing. Clickbait article.

As I recall that article was debunked with what they were really working on being a 128-bit filesystem, most likely ReFS. Before you ask, they already exist. and have for most of the decade in the form of ZFS on Solaris.

The other place a 128-bit OS would make sense is on routers and switches dealing with IPv6.

Hell, most apps are still 32-bit, and 64-bit CPUs have been in the mainstream for a decade now!
