I got the PS3 Pulse headset from 2011 for about 60 bucks used. Great mic with amazing sound.

so what is this "good headphone" you already have?

If you have good headphones, just get a Blue Snowball in the price range you mentioned, or a Blue Yeti would be even better.

Panasonic HTF600s. They're pretty cheap cans tbh.

So what's better for gaming and conversations? Should I get the modmic or invest in the expensive snowball?

I see there is the snowball and then the snowball ICE which is cheaper but looks like it's lack certain features...Suggestions?

I swear by the Logitech G230.
It was cheaper earlier. I bought mines for only 35 bucks.
Good enough stereo sound quality. Very comfortable and light. 3.5mm. Awesome mic quality compared to the older generation of gaming headsets. Removable ear cups that are machine washable so you don't get extremely oily or dirty ear cups. Breathable as well so you don't get that gummy build up of ear wax.

And then soon afterwards, I guess people realized how good this headset was and now its price is a solid 50+ usd all over the place. >_>

Should've jumped on the budget hype train while it was still budget. lol

Everyone always seems to be waiting for the newest modmic. Just grab a Snowball iCE or the Samson Go Mic and call it a day.

Is the modmic even that good? It's $40 right?

If I was shelling out $40 for a mic, I would be going for a desktop mic just to eliminate the need to run another cord up the side of my headphones.

That's a valid point.

I'll probably end up going for the ICE.
