So Turtle Rock just fired their community manager over a tweet...

^ They don't even make good games anyway. There was Left 4 Dead and..... that's it.

If you hire a burger flipper, it isn't his job to drink scotch while eating chips, so you should fire him if he does so, right? Point is, what you do off-work is well, off-work, so it shouldn't matter unless the guy killed someone or something.

Grow up.

His workplace is the internet, if he wants to be on the internet while also being off the clock, there is such a thing as being anonymous. I heard that's an easy thing to do in the digital world.

How about you show up to your job while off the clock while saying stupid **** to all the customers. Let me know how long you keep your job.

It's a little ironic he got fired for his coments defending free speech.

It'd only be ironic if he was arrested.

ITT: I'm going to assume I know what freedom of speech means and never question that assumption no matter what the real world is actually like

Witch hunts are fun and games until it's your opinion that's next on the chopping block.

Yeah except it pretty much only applies to white people.

Farrakhan called Jews "gutter people"
Obama called Farrakhan a "great man"
Nothing happened to either of them.

Supreme Court judge Sotomayor said that Latinas are smarter than white people.
Nothing happened to her either.

Nah. His workplace might be turtle rock forums or something, not the whole internet. That would be like saying if I work at a restaurant in Miami, then my workplace also includes a restaurant in Cuba.

And there isn't anonymity on the internet. It's why pedophiles are still caught.

How about you show up to your job while off the clock while saying stupid **** to all the customers. Let me know how long you keep your job.

He wasn't in his workplace, so yeah

Anonymity from the government, no, but the government didn't fire him.

The only thing more reprehensible than a racist is a fascist.

The PC police have successfully made Sterling look like a victim and themselves the villains. That takes skill.

At this point I find myself increasingly more likely to side with the KKK than liberals. These recent witch hunts are having the opposite of their intended effect. They are driving people to racism just to spite the obnoxious politically correct crowd. Bill Maher recently had a great segment on this. Many people are willing to vote Republican even if it's against their best interest just to spite the left because of this kind of crap they keep pulling.

A cut off the nose to spite the face kind of thing.

Look, I don't know if he uses his twitter account during his role as community manager or not but it also doesn't really matter, either way he should still be fired. The whole point of the community manager is to keep the masses from rocking the boat, not inciting a riot by encouraging discussion of sensitive issues that have nothing to do with the company or the game they're making.

I see it as getting fired for being terrible at his job, not because of the content of what he said.
