So Turtle Rock just fired their community manager over a tweet...

It's funny because they're getting more backlash than ever because they fired him. If only they left the man alone, then they wouldn't be in such a PR disaster.

The man didn't do his job? Hardly. This is all their fault.

lol. No publicity is bad publicity. How much you want to bet that all of this extra press does nothing more than make their game sales shoot through the roof.

Certain companies stage crap like this hoping the media will pounce on it so they can get news coverage. When things go viral, good or bad, sales skyrocket.

it seems a lot of people forget that Freedom of Speech doesn't mean Freedom from Consequence.

Nobody has ever ****ing forgotten this. Stop spouting this **** as if it makes you a moral ****ing person to witch hunt a man for giving his opinion. I hope you lose your job for saying your opinion in the comfort of your own home.

You don't deserve a job.

You don't deserve livelihood.

You don't deserve to eat.

Then come back at me and say this again.

This is why free speech is abused. Just look at him throw a fit and talk down to people. If only the internet could smack people for acting like this...

It's called "ignore posts from this user" and it makes the forums a bit easier to read, that is until somebody quotes them. Also, to put this thread to rest, via Wikipedia:

"Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas using one's body and property to anyone who is willing to receive them. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

The right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and is commonly subject to limitations based on the speech implications of the harm principle including libel, slander, obscenity and pornography, sedition, hate speech, classified information, copyright violation, trade secrets, non-disclosure agreements.

The term "offence principle" is also used[1] to expand the range of free speech limitations to prohibit forms of expression where they are considered offensive to society, special interest groups or individuals. For example, freedom of speech is limited in many jurisdictions to widely differing degrees by religious legal systems, religious offense or incitement to ethnic or racial hatred laws."

I fear you may be too educated for this thread, sir.

Dunno whether it's hilarious or sad how many people don't understand what freedom of speech or being a community manager for a company actually means. No one's first amendment rights were infringed. Whether they like it or not, anyone who works for a company and speaks to people outside of it is representing that company. This isn't new.

When people have some political agenda in need of pressing, they don't let inconveniences like knowledge or reality get in the way,

I vote "sad".

If the majority of NBA are homosexual people and a comment was made about gay people like that, the same would happen

They fired him because he was defending someone who just got in a lot of trouble because public opinion was the guy was a racist. If Turtle Rock didn't axe that PR rep immediately they would've taken a lot of heat as well.

That's just what happens when you're the face for a company and you make personal opinions public knowledge.

I hope someone gets fired for being pro-homosexual. I'm hungry to see people flip flop. I want things to get worse for everyone.

Nope. They caused their current misery. They drew attention by firing someone. Nobody would have cared.

All the guy did was point out that Sterling has the right to privacy. Which is objectively correct.

Freedom of speech is more than an amendment.

People misinterpret freedom of speech. In theory, it only serves to keep you safe from government. It doesn't exclude you from blowback from employee contracts or the general public.

If you say the current state of government sucks and the government locks you up for it, that's an infringement.

If you say the current state of government sucks and someone who disagrees shoots you, or your boss finds out and doesn't want the company being associated with your political opinion so they fire you, neither is an infringement on the rights the government has provided you with.

Freedom of speech =/= freedom to say whatever you want without any fear of repercussion whatsoever.
