What's the difference in performance between DVI and HDMI?

From what I understand, HDMI was based off of DVI, which is why simple HDMI/DVI adapters exist.

AFAIK most monitors that go beyond 1080p@60Hz come with DisplayPort instead of HDMI; since yours doesn't I'm assuming it's a 1080p60 monitor. In that case use whichever port is most convenient to you.
