Steam has been completely overrun by Indie games.
I'm a huge support of indie games, but I have to agree this is getting ridiculous.
You can spend $400 on a console and $400 on a cheap PC, or you can spend $800 to build your own and have the best of both worlds.
Open market please.
I'd rather have thousands of crappy games be released than one good game get squashed.

What does it matter what steam sells?
As long as all (or most, EA) of the AAA titles are there, big deal.
It's just a bigger selection in the end.
Like a Wegmans compared to a 7-11
7-11 will have the staples, but the Wegmans will have oh so much more.
No one is forcing you to buy the bad stuff anyway, just do some research on a game before buying.
Still, probably half of them are unfinished garbage. Because publishing completed games is so last decade.
Ah, to live somewhere with good internet so I could care about this debate.
It's gotten so bad, I don't even go to the store page anymore.
A lot of these "indie" games, aren't as good as bargain bin NES games. Unfortunately, there's always the crowd that uses words like "brilliant", "genius", and "retro-chic", to describe this crap, keeping this idiotic fad going.

You keep saying that, and it keeps being not true.
Lots of indie games? Good. Can't get enough of them.
This "Early Access"/"Beta"/"Alpha"/"Pleasegiveusmoneyeventhoughwecanteven
messbecauseweclearlylabeledit'earlyaccess'sothatmeanswe'reabovecritisim" garbage needs to be curbed. At the very least it needs to be taken off the front page. There's no reason these not-yet-games should be taking up spots and bumping legitimately complete games off the front page earlier than they otherwise would have been bumped off. Also, these games tend to get a second go at the front page when they get a complete release. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, in my opinion, alpha/early access games should *not* show up on the front page period. Yes it will reduce exposure, but it is not Valve's responsibility to provide exposure for games that are far from complete. I think early access games should *only* show up in an early access section, and not clutter the main page. That's about the extent of the screening I wish Valve would do on their end.

the reason I keep saying it is because it is, in fact, true.
the game is an unoptimized, bug-filled, horrid piece of garbage.
