Anyone with Xonar Ds Sound Center or similar help me with settings?

Im trying to set up the best Virtual Surround Sound setup with them.

There so many options and telling the difference is a headache after awhile.

Heres a PDF.

set your sound output in the windows utility to 7.1 and call it good. Anything from within the Xonar utility makes it an echo-ey mess.

If you're using good headphones with a decent sound stage I find that emulating surround sound in headphones is actually detrimental to sound as well as directional acuity. This is my person preference and some people will tell you that VSS gives them better directional sound.

I've played FPS games professionally before and I've never had a problem with directional cues without VSS.

Dolby DTS is a feature that decoders use to output surround sound.

Thanks for the insight, im just trying to get the best sound quality possible for my new Q701's. I read they had a very good soundstage, so thats why i got them.

Right now i have the settings on 2 channels, 192 bitrate, 7.1 on settings, and turned on DTS NEO:PC.

Im honestly just trying to have the background sounds the best they can be. Like sound behind me i mean.

I noticed when i had 8 channels on, if i spun around a sound, the sound wouldn't seamlessly transfer around me. It would cut off and then realign itself when it got back to left and right. Basically, sounds where missing.

Not sure where dolby headphone on dh-1 options are. Can you clue me in?

when analog out is headphone, there is an option for dolby. if you dont see it i guess you dont have it. and thats interesting about the channels thing. i jsut picked 8 because it was the biggest number haha
