What graphics card is better? NVIDIA GeForce GTX860M or Geforce GTX770M?

I decided I'd get a gaming laptop instead of desktop, so I'm wondering if it would be better to get one with Geforce GTX860M graphics or Geforce GTX770M.

Pretty sure the 770M is better.

GTX860M is showing that is a little better. Overall they are both pretty close. I would decide based on other specs.

There's apparently both a Maxwell and Kepler variant of the 860M.

Looks like the 770 wins marginally in some games and loses out marginally in others.

So instead of getting a desktop, you're now deciding between which product to buy, neither of which are suitable for gaming? and in some fairytale land in which they were real and you could play games on them , you'd still be choosing between inferior products, in comparison to a Desktop that beats both in a similar price?

They are about the same. The 860m has faster shaders but the gtx 770m has more memory bandwidth. Even so the gtx 770m doesn't have the bandwidth to push resolutions higher than 1080p. Both are equal at 1080p.

I'm sure you meant ''neither of which are suitable for gaming'', but you'd be wrong on that, these are designed specifically for gaming in mind. They're not as powerful as desktop equivalents, but that doesn't mean you can outright dismiss them like that. Laptops are absolutely viable as gaming machines.

Oh, I'm going to be brand new to PC gaming, so I don't know what's a better graphics card, what's suitable for gaming (between laptop and desktop), etc. Can someone link me to the best, most advanced (advanced spec-wise) desktop on a site that ships to Canada?
