Any way to put chrome or firefox + adblock on this tablet?

#1EmeraldroxPosted 5/12/2014 2:35:20 PM
So my best friend sold her laptop and bought a tablet, because it would be more convenient for college, but she has a problem. She wants to install chrome or firefox, along with adblock, but the tablet doesn't seem to want to let her? Does anyone know how she could get around this in any way? She also wants adblock, because she watches anime and stuff online a lot.

Windows 8 RT is basically their mobile Win8. Can only download from the app store. If Chrome isn't on Windows app store, she wouldn't be able to download it.

Hmm, that's unfortunate. Was hoping I could get an answer so I could help her out.

I bought that tablet for my mom, so I can speak with authority here.

It WILL NOT run Firefox acceptably. It will install and run, but it will be dog slow and choppy.

It will run Chrome. If you actually plan on using the touchscreen, however, you WILL NOT want to use Chrome, as its touch interface leaves much to be desired.

If you get a Windows tablet, you must come to terms with the fact that YOU WILL be using IE11 as your browser. IE11 is actually a good browser, and you can use the built-in capability for Tracking Protection Lists to block ads (just install Easylist's TPL, and it's essentially the same thing as Adblock).

I'm pretty sure that's a full Windows tablet, not a RT one.

Is there an error message when you try to install?
