Hello I am picking up a new ssd to replace as my o's drive.

Will do doing a fresh install.

Which is better.

Crucial M550. It has MLC memory.

I personally have 256gb evo and before I bought it I read dozen reviews and also asked couple of my friends who already owned pro about the differences and everything led to the same conclusion.
Pro's performance isn't that much better to justify the price difference.

i have both and didn't notice anything major in the boot times.maybe a split second faster on the pro but not worth the price difference

see i have an m4 crucial at the moment. I'm led to believe that it has some issues. ill get a lockout every now and then and wont be able to boot into windows until 2 or 3 power cycles. so i'd rather stay away from them

The Pro is the better of the two, it's not better in any way that would make a big difference to the average user though.

The Pro uses mlc memory which is a lot more durable and has a much longer lifespan (est 16 years for TLC, 60 for MLC), plus it has a 5 year warranty vs 3.

I don't know the prices but 500>>>250+slightly better memory IMO.
