Normal 3 + ESC mapped to one of the side buttons. The other is set to Forward but I don't use it. I don't like Back mapped to my mouse because I was hitting it on accident too much.

5 is enough but i do like extra.. i have volume up/down , mute, and a shortcut to easily switch between headphones and speakers bound to my g502

dpi up/down is also handy in some games

I have a LMB, MMB, RMB, forward, backward, and a 12 digit keypad.

That is 17 buttons. I would prefer not to have to make do with less.

Life is normally too short to purposely seek out things you hate, but apparently that rule doesn't apply on the Xbox One board.

I am a fan of 9 button mice:
-Standard 3
-Back and forward, and one spare button for configuration (Alt+tab at the moment)
-DPI up and down
-Wheel lock/unlock. This was one I didn't expect to care too much about, but unlocking the mouse wheel is surprisingly useful in a lot of contexts (such as long, old pdfs without OCR, or long pages on Steam)
