A lot. I've gotten used to my MMO7; makes it hard to go back. Let's see...
My right thumb controls 12 functions itself: -Refresh (press in) -Highlight address bar (tilt forward) -Copy (tilt up) -Find (tilt back) -Paste (tilt down -Forward (front button) -Back (back button) -New Tab (up forward button) -Close tab (up back button) -Task manager (outer button) -Left/right tab/program (horizontal scroll wheel)
And then technically 11 on my index/middle fingers: -Left and right click, obviously -Write sticky note (right inner click). Also goes to email if pressed alongside inner left button. -Program window (left inner click). Switches panes by right clicking with it held down (effectively making rclick tab) -"Metro" interface (outer button) -Scroll up/down/activate free scrolling (scroll wheel) -Switch modes (forward left button) -Adjust mouse sensitivity (button under scroll wheel)
It may seem like a ton of nonsense, sure. But I use those functions constantly, and after using the mouse for about a week, it was incredibly easy to use, to the point where I didn't need to think about it. I guess you'd need to actually hold a MMO7 to see how ergonomic it all is :/
EDIT: Switching modes goes to keybindings for different genres (FPSs, RTSs, etc) of games.

Well, usual config with 2 buttons on the side is enough, but I've got more now and I'm using them all depending on the game. One above the wheel, two below, I can also push the wheel to the left or right which counts as two extra buttons. I dislike having 9 buttons on the side because I have a big hand and those are usually smaller so they can fit.
7-8 is my optimal amount, combined with alt+ctrl combos. That usually gives me 4 (12 with modifiers) buttons I can hit super easy and 1-2 more out of the way ones for really situational stuff. The g700 is basically my perfect mouse. G600/naga felt too crowded
Irony is a maginot line drawn by the already condemned
The more buttons on your mouse the better you can be at video games.
Got to agree with this. It's almost cheating in most games because of how much faster you can react than other people. What takes them two or three actions only takes you one and will quickly come as instinct. It's kind of amusing how people always say you don't need extra mouse buttons until they actually have a mouse with them, and then they say they could never go back to just left and right click
