leave my PC on all the time, or no?

Mine is on constantly. Unless I'm out of town on business or to visit my family, or at my girlfriend's place for a few days, then I might turn it off, if I remember to.

I let mine sleep when I'm done. I treat it like a human being, excluding the daily clean up. I clean the inside once a week with a quick blow and the outside once a month

Just turn it off. there is nothing wrong with that option. It will save you money in the long run. The only time I leave it on is if it is downloading some huge files or working on something big like video editing.

My media server has been on for about 3 years 24/7, no problems.

I shut off my gaming pc when I leave for work and go to bed, been doing this for about 3 years now, no problems.

Well I know a lot of PC parts are rated for how many hours they usually work until they die so I would think it would be better to shut down often. That way your PC will live the maximum amount of time.

What I get from this thread is that there is no right answer because everyone has their own opinions on what the right answer is.

Logically, if there's no reason for it to be on, why leave it on? I might leave a PC on if I was using it to record TV or acting as a server to another PC in the house, or whatever.... but realistically, if it's idle for an hour, it should probably be put in sleep mode at least... you could have it "wake on LAN" if you needed it remotely, otherwise it'll be ready for you in a heartbeat when you're ready to use it again.

Leaving it running at full power and doing nothing the whole time makes no sense.

I turn mine off each night. With an ssd, OS loads in less than 5 seconds anyway. And aging energy bill to I suppose. Never left it on constantly unless downloading 40gb games etc.

If you let it run all the time, Steam can download updates while you aren't around. I find this extremely useful due to my horrible bandwidth, so my system is always on (unless there's a power outage).
