How good is this monitor for Windows 8?

#1auginistePosted 6/5/2014 6:32:03 PM(edited)
i figured i should switch to a touchscreen panel if i'm going to use windows 8.

how does this work?

http://www.pcbuyersguide.com.ph/productreview.php?id=115

it's a viewsonic td2340 if you don't want to head on to the link. not sure if i should go with this, or an hp touchscreen monitor. your thoughts?

(or maybe an asus one like the vx239h?)
EDIT: sorry, the asus monitor isn't touchscreen. so that's out of the question, i think.

I have a touchscreen on my new laptop. Besides trying it out for about 5 minutes, its remained untouched. I suppose you might enjoy the odd touch 'app' on the windows 8 store but other than that, its a waste of time imo. Nothing in windows 8 is worth using a touch screen for. Touch screens are best suited to devices that can easily be moved around and laid down flat and not monitors that require you to raise your entire arm.

I'm not knowledgeable about touch-enabled monitors, but I've used Windows 8 since it came out, and I can tell you a touchscreen is hardly useful. You'll spend most of your time in the traditional desktop where touching the screen to get things done is more of a hindrance than a mouse. It would be one thing if you were getting a laptop and it had a touchscreen (my wife has one of those -- a convertible laptop/tablet hybrid), but I wouldn't bother replacing a perfectly good monitor just for touch functionality.

i see. thanks a lot guys! :D i'm about to replace my OS, and my bro says he was going to give me the said monitor, but the asus one i mentioned is also up for grabs. so between the two, i guess my choice is the asus one, since the viewsonic one is just too bulky.

thanks again! :D
