Looking for a good gaming laptop in the $1200-1500 range.

Upgrading from a $900 desktop I built back in 2010.

I'm looking for a portable gaming solution, as my current situation doesn't really accommodate a desktop computer. I need something I can take with me if need be.

Ideally something that runs cool, size be damned.

Somewhere around there, yeah. I got one with an 860M for $1250 USD.

So you're going from an upgradable desktop to an overpriced nonupgradable laptop that in performance, is inferior to that of a desktop at the same price. All while needing "portability" , even though that itself is going to be extremely limited in the first place.

You're extremely good with money. Just like all the other people who buy laptops with the primary purpose to game on them.

Been looking at some Asus laptops. G750JM seems pretty neat.

The y50 has good specs but I read the screen is pretty terrible. You can find quite a few choices of laptops in that range with Ips screens.

Yup. Not a terrible choice, but if you want the full package I think MSi takes it.

After quite a bit of consideration, I think I'm gonna go with Asus' G750JM.
