People complaining about hard drive space and ram. (wall of text)

I think my biggest pet peeve right now is how annoyed I get seeing people complain about hard drive space requirements, and ram requirements (dead rising call of duty ghosts). Hard drive space is dirty cheap for above average quality drives these days. 2tb drives start at around $70 on amazon (just a bit over the price of a AAA game). I feel like anyone complaining and crying about hard drive space needs to layoff buying one game and buy themselves a new hard drive. There's no reason in 2014 to not have the space to install your games or record videos. If you record on a regular basis then you really have no excuse not to have a lot of hard drive space. I'm running 8tb of hard drive right now. I agree that Ghosts was a bit of overkill on it's hard drive requirements (PC and console versions) but game file sizes will only get bigger with time.

Ram is the same thing. I've seen people complaining that dead rising 3 requires 6gb of ram. My STOCK computer I bought at wal-mart SEVEN YEARS AGO has 6gb of ram. I'm running 32gb now which I know is overkill but I'm also future proofed for some time to come. 16 is more than enough for anyone currently, and isn't that expensive for a decent brand.

I look at it like this, part of PC gaming is keeping up with the hardware swing upgrading when needed. Not everyone can afford that PC gaming can be an expensive hobby, and it's nothing to be ashamed of if you can't do it, but complaining about it is just silly. If we want games to actually progress (look better, have better AI, better sound, bigger levels/worlds, and so on), then developers have to push the boundaries with the best hardware available. If they don't then gaming simply will not evolve.

Dead Rising 3 has very literally hundreds of zombies on screen at times. For that to look better than the Xbox one version it takes some power to push it. There will be people who don't have a console and still can't run it on PC because of the requirements, but the way I see it that's very simply part of PC gaming that's always been and always will be.

People complained about Ghosts because there was no justification for the requirements in the game itself. It was pure marketing BS to make it look "Next gen" and the game wouldn't even start unless you met the silly minimums.

Some roads you shouldn't go down because maps used to say there'd be dragons there. Now they don't, but that don't mean the dragons aren't there.

I said that I agree with ghost being silly but the rest of my statement still stands. System requirements will only go up with time.

What exactly do you disagree with? You're being rude without any basis while I explained my point thoroughly. Any reason for what you said?

What annoys me more is that people simply will not open up a RAM graph and see how much physical memory a game is actually using in the real world.

Staggeringly, people still seem to think that a game will perform better on 32GB of RAM, than it will on 16GB. When in the real world, 8GB gives you plenty of headroom, and a person like me could actually just about scrape by on 4GB

This topic seems to miss the point. Games such as Ghosts or Titanfall are not taking up 40+ GB of space because their content actually requires that much space, they simply take up that much space because they can. For that massive space requirement, what exactly are those games offering? It certainly isn't high texture resolution and model detail.

That hard drive space is affordable is inconsequential. These games are taking up way more space than they need to, and there's no justification for it.

As far as the RAM requirements go, most of the larger ones are pretty artificial. Dead Rising doesn't do anything particularly more intensive than other games before it. and Ghosts' requirement is literally just an artificial restriction that can actually be bypassed. The game itself requires less than 2 GB to run at max. In addition to that, RAM actually is at a premium right now. 16 GB will cost around $160.

Also, of course a 7 year old pre-built has a lot of RAM. That's all most pre-builts have.

What they should do is the base game, then an optional high rez pack for those who happen to be running the hardware to take full advantage of it.

Soo...I should have saved money when I bought 16GB of RAM? Because I probably will never utilize it all
I spent $79
