I'd guess five years at the most. 4K at 60 fps is arriving now, so I'd say they'll have gotten it up to 120 and added g-sync before too long. Now whether or not we'll have GPUs that can handle that is another issue.

And to think, consoles will still be on the same generation. Maybe they'll have figured out 1080p at 60 fps by then. Probably not.

5 years is when they would be pretty relevant I would say. Getting one now when no content has been made for it pretty damn pointless. Unless you are viewing pictures or something with it.

Free-sync is part of the new standard for display port, G-sync will not be used if you can get the same result without proprietary hardware.
