Recomend a Good Gaming Laptop

#1RougeBattousaiPosted 6/7/2014 2:52:14 PM
So I know that desktop gaming rigs are far better than most laptops for gaming, but I prefer something that I can take with me when I travel or even move around my apt. Right now I have an ASUS N56 Intel i7-3610 with 16 gigs ram and nVidia GT 630M.

I would like something to replace my laptop, but I'm not as computer literate as I would like. There is a similar version of my laptop at Bestbuy near me with an Intel 4700 and nVidia GTX 740M (i believe it was) but I want advice first. I have heard of Razer, ASUS ROG laptops, and there is this other brand called Cyberpower I've heard of.

DO you guys have any recommendations? are those brands good? Anything I should consider??

Laptop suggestions preferred, Desktop rig suggestions welcome too!

Asus or MSi. Don't buy anything with less than a 750m or 850m graphics card. 765m or 860m would be more ideal though, if budget allows. Other than that it's just preference and what price point you want to hit.

IMO, any of the Clevo/Sager laptops with the 860M or better would probably be your best bang/buck. If you want something really portable, they have a 13" one - the W230SS. XoticPC is probably the cheapest/safest place to buy.

But unless you absolutely need one (ex. your job keeps you away from home like in hotel rooms a lot of the time), just get a desktop, and then a tablet or cheap laptop for anything else.

I used to have an Asus gaming laptop. It was great at the time but they get outdated quickly.
I reccomend against it but you can't go wrong with any high end Asus, MSI or Sager gaming laptop.
None of them are going to be too quiet when gaming anyway, and if you want a gaming laptop noise probably isn't an issue for you anyway.

I'm pretty sure Razer isn't bad, it's just not as cost efficient or as good quality as the other 3 brands I said. Alienware laptops are expensive if you buy it from the Dell site, but if you can find them on the cheap somewhere else they are solid gaming laptops.

I recommend not getting an overpriced inferior laptop that'll be outdated and unupgradable in a few years.
