Yes. Create a separate partition. There's probably a partitioning guide somewhere within the SteamOS documentation.

Yeah, that's a definite case of consult the documentation and their forums or proceed at your own risk.
Some roads you shouldn't go down because maps used to say there'd be dragons there. Now they don't, but that don't mean the dragons aren't there.

Read the docs, but generally speaking it probably isn't any different from dual booting between Windows and any Linux distro.
Apparently SteamOS actually supports dual booting now, but according to Valve it's hardly a setup that should be trusted.,review-2015.html
