Rust. The creator of DayZ fled the project a few months back. Don't support it.
Not true. He is not "leaving" until later in the year. The development team is still fully active. And Dean Hall has made it fully clear that his consultation and expertise will be made available whenever needed.
DayZ is currently the most fun I'm having on PC. I keep trying to play The Forest but it scares the crap out of me.
I've played DayZ and Rust. First of all, DayZ isn't very optimized, I can run it at 30fps-ish at 1080p on medium settings. The gameplay gets boring after awhile, but there is alot more to do than in Rust. I have 38 hours in DayZ, while only 18 in Rust. Rust got boring fast, because there really isn't that much to do. But, both go boring after awhile. I just played DayZ more since it had more content. So here's my recommendation. Don't buy either.
The big problem with DayZ is that there is huge downtime between action in the game. It's actually fairly entertaining to watch some streamers play DayZ solo because that gives them a lot of time to entertain, while also providing some intense action when it happens. If you don't have someone to socialize with during the downtime, you'll get bored very quickly. Basically, you need to have a group to play with and to have fun with.
Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside.
