Unable to ping VPN servers when connected to own router.

#1schadowPosted 6/11/2014 10:54:50 AM
For some reason I'm unable to ping any servers of my VPN service if I'm connected to the internet through my own router. The VPN and internet connections are both fine, though.

However, if I connect through 3G on my phone I instantly get the latencies from all the servers.

I'm guessing there's something wrong with the setup of my router, but I have zero idea as to what it could be. Any ideas? It's an Airport Express.

Try doing a tracert, see where it starts failing.

Maybe it is blocking outbound ports by default

It is almost certainly the router's firewall blocking the connection.

Which is what I basically said.

It's not the firewall. If these servers are hosted on your internal network and you are pinging them from your internal network via your WAN address, you need loopback support. You can't do that with an Airport Express as it doesn't support NAT loopback.
